Accommodation at Safari Trails Mozambique (STM) – Chawalo Lodge

From its humble beginnings in 2004, with tents and sandy paths, Chawalo Lodge has been developed into a prime destination for discerning sport hunters and fishermen worldwide.

Nestled on the northern bank of the Zambezi River, under an ancient Baobab Tree, the facilities have been carefully placed to afford guests a breath-taking view over the great Zambezi River and the amazing fauna and flora that make this wilderness their home.

The main complex is open plan consisting of a dining area, lounge and patio with the pool overlooking the river. Meals are served in a buffet style atmosphere in the dining area. The lounge is a comfortable seated area, where you can nap between hunting or fishing sessions or read a book. On the patio near the pool, one can sit and take in the wonders of this breathtaking wilderness. Watch the elephants drinking at the water`s edge, pods of grunting hippos or the abundance of birdlife just off the banks of the lodge. Elephants, buffalo, bushbuck, warthog and hippos frequently graze at the edge of the lodge gardens.

The elevated open-plan bar, designed with the exquisite vista to the west in mind, is the main attraction showcasing the sunset over the river. Drinks and snacks can be enjoyed whilst both listening to the calls of the wild and/or watching International televised events.
In the shade of a magnificent Natal Mahogany tree, is the fireplace where stories and laughter echo. This area leads to the deck and pool, overlooking the river. Here refreshments can be enjoyed in the company of friends. In the summer months the swimming pool provides a welcome escape from the African heat.

Nine fully serviced chalets make up the guest accommodation. Rooms sleep two, but can accommodate up to four, by prior arrangement. All rooms are en-suite, with hot and cold showers. All windows are mosquito proof.

Power is supplied to the units via 1200W inverters, running off a 24V system, charged by solar panels and diesel generator. All rooms have 220V outlets for charging cameras, laptops or cell phones.
