Invitation

Moon Phases of
Southern Africa

General Information

  • The Eastern Cape is largely a very disease free area, so no vaccinations are required.
  • It would be advisable though to make sure that your tetnus shots are up to date.
  • The weather here is fairly unpredictable, so although daily laundry is done, one would be advised to bring both warm and cold weather clothing.
  • Typically the temperatures will be under 50 F in the mornings and evenings with the days warming to 70’s or even 80 F.
  • Being close to the coast we do get a fair amount of wind, but luckily the winter months are usually the calmer months.
  • Southern Africa operates on 220 volt electricity supply so converters and adaptors may be required.
  • Try Custom Travel for good airline prices. They often have some good deals. (414) 282 5321 or ctravel@execpc.com
  • None of the firearm import permits have a fee attached, so if any official tries to get payment for these, please ask for a name and rank.
  • Porters are available to help with luggage at the airports, they can be a little forward, so be firm and don’t tip more than $20. $10 is more in line though.
  • When selecting your safari dates it is important to remember the moon phases. The best is on a dark moon. Please take a look at the link for the moon phases during the time you would like to come.

Firearms

  • With our type of terrain and the animals that could be taken here, it is advisable to bring a caliber in the .270 to .300 range.
  • Premium bullets such as, Barnes, swift, trophy bonded should be used.
  • It is always difficult to give an average on the distance that shots may be taken, but it would be advised to be equipped to shoot anywhere from 100 to 300 yards.
  • If you do not want to travel with a firearm or are doing a hunt/tour combination hunt it may be advisable to hire a rifle from us. These are available at $50 per day plus any ammunition used.
